LIFELINE PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

Dr. Chris Brehm, PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Chris Brehm is a Physical Therapist and the owner of Lifeline Therapy. He treats patients at Lifeline’s McMurray location. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and Master of Physical Therapy degree from Chatham University. He graduated from Marietta College, OH with a Bachelor’s in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. Dr. Brehm is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Certified Athletic Trainer. He is an active member of the Private Practice, Orthopedic, and Cardiopulmonary sections of the American Physical Therapy Association. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association, and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Dr. Brehm’s professional interest is in evidence based physical therapy practice using manual therapy techniques with the incorporation of therapeutic and neuromuscular control exercises, as well as treating cardiopulmonary impairments. Dr. Brehm enjoys golfing, traveling, and attending sporting events.

Kevin Carbone, MPT, CSCS

Kevin Carbone is a Physical Therapist and is the Facility Director at Lifeline Therapy West Mifflin. He earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY graduating Summa Cum Laude. Kevin’s professional interest is in orthopedics; particularly sports related injuries, as well as utilizing manual techniques and therapeutic exercise to return patients to function. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and has worked with numerous high school, collegiate, and professional athletes over the years. Kevin is a certified clinical instructor, and has taught clinical laboratories at Chatham University, and guest lectured at the University of Pittsburgh. Kevin lives in the South Hills with his wife and three kids, and enjoys exercising, playing the piano and guitar, coaching his kids, and cheering on his many sports teams during his free time.

Dr. Karen Hoskinson, PT, DPT, CLT

Dr. Karen Hoskinson is a Physical Therapist at the Forest Hills location. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2008. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. In 2013 she became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies nationally accredited program. Dr. Hoskinson’s professional interests include helping people with Lymphedema manage their symptoms and gain a better quality of life, and expanding her knowledge of evidence-based diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic conditions. Outside of work, Dr. Hoskinson enjoys spending time with her husband and son, reading, and traveling.

Dr. Jeanette Kochman, PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Jeanette Kochman is a Physical Therapist and is the Facility Director at Lifeline Therapy Forest Hills. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Chatham University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy and her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University. She is a certified clinical instructor and has teaching experience as a guest lecturer at various local Physical Therapy Schools. Dr. Kochman is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Orthopedic Section, and the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Kochman’s professional interest is in advanced manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise, patient education, and incorporation of evidence based treatments. Dr. Kochman enjoys spending time with her son, exercising, and any outdoor activities.

Dr. Mindy Maggio, PT, DPT

Dr. Mindy Maggio is a Physical Therapist and is the Facility Director at Lifeline Therapy Warrendale. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The University of Pittsburgh and her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from West Virginia University. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Maggio is a certified clinical instructor and is working towards her Geriatric Board Certification. Her professional interests are in cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, orthopedics and manual therapy. In her free time, Dr. Maggio enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running and yoga.

Dr. Kala Markel, PT, DPT

Dr. Kala Markel is a Physical Therapist and is the Facility Director at Lifeline Therapy Monroeville. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Chatham University. She is a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association, American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and the Tri-State Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Additionally, she is also currently certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and a board member of the Southwestern District Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Markel’s area of professional interest is in treating patients with cardiopulmonary conditions as well as those with orthopedic diagnoses. She is currently working toward her cardiopulmonary specialization. Dr. Markel enjoys reading, photography, making jewelry, traveling, and supporting the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Michael Sidick, PT, MPT

Michael Sidick is a Physical Therapist for Lifeline Therapy, treating patients at our Forest Hills location. Michael joined the company in July of 2016. He earned is Master of Physical Therapy Degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a specialty in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from the University of Akron. Michael brings 19 years of experience to Lifeline Therapy with a background mainly in outpatient orthopedics, but also with experience in the areas of hospital inpatient, home health, worker’s compensation, skilled nursing and assisted living. He is currently working on completing a certification in Australian/Maitland Manual Therapy. His professional interests are in advanced manual therapy techniques, and bridging the gap between acute treatment and a successful continuum of care. Michael enjoys a wide variety of activities outside the clinic including, spending time with his wife and three kids, coaching baseball, home improvements, car restoration, gardening, camping, reading, and writing.

LIFELINE RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS

Heather Butker, BS, RRT

Heather Butker is a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care and is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and The Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Respiratory Care with a BS in respiratory care. She is the Western Pennsylvania chapter manager for the Tri-State Society for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, a member of the American Association of Respiratory Care and the National Board of Respiratory Care, and is certified for Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Heather is registered in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Previous experience as a respiratory therapist includes ICU, ER, Trauma, Pulmonary Function Testing, and long term and acute care settings. Heather has been part of the Lifeline Pulmonary Rehabilitation program since 2013 and works in the Monroeville location.

Amy L. Eddinger, BS, RRT-NPS

Amy Eddinger is a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care and licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania/Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Respiratory Care. Amy is a Basic Life Support Instructor and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. She is an active member of the American Association for Respiratory Care. Amy brings 22 years of experience which includes Clinical Respiratory Therapy Educator, Adult ICU care, Geriatric Respiratory Care, and Pulmonary Function Testing. With her Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty certification, she has 12 years NICU experience, and served 10 years with the West Penn Hospital NICU transport team. Amy joined our team in 2016 at both our Forest Hills and Monroeville locations in Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She enjoys spending time with her family, and is interested in health and fitness.

Dawn Rusak BS, RRT

Dawn Rusak is a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care and is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. She is a Respiratory Therapist and the Pulmonary Rehab Coordinator for Lifeline Therapy. Dawn is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania – Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Respiratory Care with a BS in Respiratory Care. She is certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support. Dawn is an active member of the American Association of Respiratory Care. Her previous experience includes seven plus years in Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Function Testing, serving as an Asthma Educator, and serving as a member of the Children’s Hospital Life Flight transport team. Dawn joined Lifeline Therapy in 2015 and works primarily in the Warrendale location.

Jennifer Taggart, RRT

Jennifer is a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care and is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit with a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy. Jennifer is certified in Basic Life Support. Previous experience as a respiratory therapist includes NICU, critical care, sleep medicine, and patient education. Jennifer has been a part of Lifeline Pulmonary Rehabilitation since January 2016 and works in the McMurray location. Jennifer enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.

LIFELINE CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Melissa Wade, MSW, LCSW

Melissa Wade is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the behavioral health specialist for Lifeline Therapy. She earned her Master’s degree from West Virginia University and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Melissa has over 20 years of experience as Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy to address anxiety, depression, and mood disorders and also has a specialization in gerontology. She has experience in the acute care hospital setting and the outpatient setting as well. Melissa joined the Lifeline team in January of 2016. She travels to all Lifeline facilities for consultation and counseling. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys reading and working out.
